Cortijo Romero is a lovingly restored, fully furnished, self catering farmhouse, with exclusive use of a small private pool, in the heart of the stunning unspoilt countryside of rural inland Andalucia in Southern Spain.
Set on the very edge of the small village of Venta Micena, near Orce in the province of Granada and with far reaching views to the mountains, the house is in a beautiful location. Inside the ceilings are high and the rooms are airy and spacious. Because of the thick stone walls the house remains pleasantly cool in the summer with no need for air conditioning.
There are three bedrooms, a large sitting-room with wood burning stove, a good-sized dining room, a character kitchen containing another wood stove, and a spacious bathroom.
Outside are enclosed courtyard gardens containing trees, flowers and a variety of herbs, within easy picking distance of the kitchen! There are also some large terraces with many flowers in pots, a covered dining area with table and six chairs, a built-in barbecue and the completely private pool.
A rustic table at the front of the house is a great place to watch the changing light on the mountains and observe the wildlife. To the side is a tree filled field, perfect for picnicking. The property also has the benefit of free wifi.
The house is in a very quiet location with just the sound of birdsong and the occasional distant bells of the goats.
Ten kilometres away, in Orce, there are shops, restaurants and bars, where free tapas is served with every drink. Orce has a weekly market, a castle and a museum of prehistory. Just outside the town of Orce is a large spring fed freshwater swimming pool where you can swim with fish. Entry is free and there are poolside bars.
There are great walks from the house into the surrounding hills and the possibilities for mountain biking are virtually endless.
Cortijo Romero is available all year found and is a fantastic place to celebrate Christmas and New Year with views to the snow capped mountains.
