Positive: I stayed at Del Ceiro Hotel in Cairo from May 29 to June 5. Overall, the experience had a few positives, but there were several drawbacks that made it fall short of expectations. The hotel is located on a hidden street in a very local part of Cairo. The area isn’t particularly clean or tourist-friendly, and you likely won’t see any other foreigners around. On the positive side, the reception staff were friendly and spoke good English, which made check-in smooth. We were two people but were given a room with four single beds. The beds were clean and comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. Hot water was also reliable. However, the bathroom was a major letdown. Although they claimed it was newly renovated, it was extremely cramped, and shower water leaked out under the door into the room. Traffic noise at night is loud, so light sleepers beware. The elevator up to the 5th floor (where the hotel is located) felt old and quite unsafe—very small and shaky. The hotel offers some conveniences like an ironing setup, washing machines, and a dining room (though we didn’t use the latter). One thing to note: the hotel offers airport transfers for $25 each way, but this is essentially them booking you a regular Uber or local taxi from the room. We paid the fee thinking it was a special service, but later found that a normal Uber from the hotel to the airport costs around 400 EGP (~$13). They insisted it’s hard to find one yourself, but in reality, it’s simple via the Uber app. They also offer tours to Giza and other sights, but again, at inflated prices. The driver acts as a guide but isn’t very informative. It seems like they know local guides at the site and hand you off, leading to more costs than if you arranged your own private guide or used a travel app. In summary: Clean room, friendly staff, and functioning AC/hot water are the main positives. But between the location, bathroom issues, noisy environment, misleading service pricing, and dodgy...

Negative: Bathroom was extremely small—shower water leaked into the room. Elevator to the 5th floor felt unsafe and very tight. Heavy traffic noise at night. Washing machines and ironing area available; we didn’t use the dining room. The hotel offers airport transfers for $25 but just books Uber for you—you can do it yourself for ~400 EGP. Tours they offer are overpriced. The “guide” was just a driver who gave no info and dropped us at Giza with his friend. He also took us to a carpet, perfume, and papyrus “museum” that were just shops pushing products after a 1-minute demo. Felt like a tourist trap. What I didn’t like: Very small, poorly designed bathroom Overpriced taxi/transfer service “Guide” driver gave no tour info and just handed us off at Giza Fake museums (carpet, perfume, papyrus) just trying to sell stuff
